Petrochemical operations in southern Iran by the country’s Oil Ministry is causing air and water pollution and an increase in allergies, cancer and unhealthy newborns, Shargh reported, citing parliamentary member Asghar Jalalian.
Numerous illnesses have been linked to gas and petrochemical plants in the southern port town of Assaluyeh and to a lack of oversight by the Health Ministry and the country’s environmental organization, the Tehran-based newspaper said.
