Iranian Speaker: Zionist Regime to Be Annihilated

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani emphasized that the Israeli regime will come to an end in near future.

"Without a doubt, the future belongs to Muslim nations and faithful revolutionary youths and the usurper regime of Israel will be annihilated," said Ali Larijani on the occasion of the 8th anniversary of Hezbollah's victory in the 33-day war against Israel.

The conflict also known as the July War took place in Lebanon, northern Israel and the Golan Heights.

It started in July 2006, and continued until a United Nations-brokered ceasefire went into effect in the morning on 14 August 2006, though it formally ended on 8 September 2006 when Israel lifted its naval blockade of Lebanon.

In his message addressed to Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Larijani congratulated the Lebanese nation on the historic victory.

He described the sacrifices of the resistance fighters and unity among Lebanese leaders key to the memorable event.

The Iranian parliament speaker also said further future victories against the occupying regime can only be achieved through the same spirit.

The Tel Aviv regime launched two wars on Lebanon in 2000 and 2006. About 1,200 Lebanese, most of them civilians, were killed in the 33-Day War of 2006.

On both occasions, however, Hezbollah fighters defeated the Israeli forces and Tel Aviv was forced to retreat without achieving any of its objectives.
