Report: Austrian President to Visit Iran in November

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Austrian President Heinz Fischer will pay an official visit to Iran after the end of the extended nuclear talks between Tehran and six world powers, the Austrian news agency APA reported on Thursday.

“Vienna and Tehran are consulting on the timing of Fischer’s trip. But it is expected to take place after the conclusion of nuclear talks on November 24th,” said Austrian Presidential Spokeswoman Astrid Salmhofer.

A high-ranking economic delegation will accompany Fischer during his visit to explore investment opportunities in Iran.

Fischer’s pre-planned visit to Iran has been delayed due to the extension of nuclear talks between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council – the US, Britain, France, Russia and China -- plus Germany.

Earlier in April, Reuters quoted Fischer's spokesman as saying that the Austrian president’s invitation from the Iranian side had been accepted in principle, but no date had been set.

Fisher’s visit to Iran will be the first trip by a European head of state to the Islamic Republic since 2005.
