Iran invited Polish companies to invest in Iran's economic projects.

Iranian Deputy Economy Minister Behrouz Alishiri met with his Polish counterpart on the sidelines of the three-day joint annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) which opened in Washington on April 11.

Iran is determined to boost economic and trade ties with Poland, Alishiri said, Iran's Mehr news agency reported on April 12.

Iran and Poland are determined to boost their cooperation in diverse areas, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said in March.

Zarif made the statement in a meeting with his visiting Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski in Tehran.

There are many untapped capacities concerning the mutual relations, for instance in petrochemical and medical sectors, which could be explored, Zarif said.

Iran and Poland signed a memorandum of understanding on pharmaceutical and trade cooperation during the visit of Polish foreign minister to Iran's capital Tehran, Zarif said, expressing hope that Sikorski's visit will pave the way for expansion of relations between the two countries.

For his part, the Polish foreign minister also called for boost of ties between two countries, expressing optimism that Iran's relations with the European Union (EU)will improve quickly.
